About Equal-Agender

Equal is an initiative funded through the European Social Fund (ESF). The programme tests and promotes new means of challenging all forms of discrimination and inequality in the labour market. The Agender Development Partnership (DP) addresses one of Equal’s themes, that of gender inequality and job desegregation and works with pilot Children’s Centres, Further and Higher Education and private sector training groups to establish these alternative career paths for women. Working with the Nextstep Network the project is producing Information, Advice and Guidance resources and materials which tackle the stereotyping of gender. Through a series of ‘women into…’ FE courses, women are being supported into non-traditional careers through Agenders links to local employers.

Partners are invited to submit innovative project proposals to offer programmes and services which will redress job desegregation and assist women in finding careers in construction, high level health sciences, film and television production, forensic science and engineering. Some work recruiting men into childcare is also planned. The start of 2007 saw lot of activity commence.  Please look around the site for further details on news, events and project updates.

Equal projects work with transnational partners sharing ideas and innovation across Europe. The Agender DP works with projects in Italy, Catalonia and Germany in a partnership called ‘WINGS’. These will strengthen inter-DP relationships made between participating European nations and allow for a further exchange of good practice.
