DVD for Employers

The Agender Employers Sub-Group has commissioned a short film to help engage employers and promote non-gender traditional roles. The film is due for completion in September 2007. Its purpose is to encourage employers to think about and promote non traditional careers. The film will outline the strong business case for positively supporting non-gender traditional roles, as a proposal needs to make good business sense to appeal to employers.   

The business benefits of offering non-traditional employment roles include:  

• reducing the skills shortage

• increasing Corporate Social Responsibility

• diversifying their workforce

• retaining good staff

• potential for excellent PR and positive exposure

The short film will feature 6 local employers who have taken innovative approaches to encouraging non-traditional gender roles in their workforce. These include Building Health Hub, Lady Penelope’s Cars, Family Housing Association DLO, Teamworks Go- Karting, PPDG and SHE Construction. 

It will be distributed through the Chamber of Commerce, local Children’s centres, the National Employer Panel and the Agender Development Partnership, as well as being shown on screens on local commuter trains and potentially local TV. A Business Breakfast Launch will be held for local employers at which the DVD will be premiered.
